After solving the mystery of the Mark of the Cyclops and founding their new secret crime-solving league, the League of Medusa, Nico and Thrax are on their way to Delphi so that their boss Ariston can consult the Oracle about his new dramatic career. However, the great Oracle is nowhere near as peaceful as one would expect for a sanctuary of the god Apollo. Street gangs fight in the night and a young girl with the prophetic powers of a future Pythia has disappeared. Not only that, but the household also befriends a merchant and his son who are seeking information about a stolen ring and a lost niece before a terrible family curse catches up to them.

Nico and Thrax’ adventures keep them very busy during this book, so it’s a good thing that Ariston is too consumed with his poetic muse to give them too much trouble. That leaves them plenty of time to explore Delphi and enjoy the experiences of living in the rural “quiet” of Mount Parnassus. As in the first book in the series, author Saviour Pirotta does an incredible job of bringing 5th century Greece to life and populating it believably with a host of interesting characters from all walks of life. With everything packed into this book, it's no surprise that there are still plenty of mysteries left unsolved, so expect to pick up the next book right away. —Krishni Burns
